Hello neighbors,
Since I was elected in 2018, I’ve had the honor of serving as the BART Board Director for District 8, representing over 400,000 San Francisco residents. I love public transit, and being on the BART Board has only deepened that love. Now, I’m excited to run for reelection to continue my service.
The pandemic has shown us more than ever that public transit is an essential service that keeps the Bay Area running even through the toughest of times. I’m proud to have led BART through these past four challenging years, and now, I’m asking for your support to continue this work for our region.
As chair of BART’s Administration Committee in 2021, I oversaw the passage of BART’s annual budget that returned service back to nearly 100% pre-pandemic service, especially during peak hours, while avoiding layoffs of our essential workers. I authored two successful resolutions to require a vaccine mandate for all BART employees and to extend the mask mandate this year as we saw COVID cases and hospitalizations rise again. And most importantly, I fought hard to advocate for federal financial assistance, which has helped BART continue to provide robust service and have a balanced budget, even through these unprecedented times.
But we know that being on the BART Board isn’t about doing the bare minimum of running service. Over the past four years, I approved and launched BART’s first-ever low-income fare program, reopened bathrooms, supported building housing on BART land, and created an ambassador and social worker program to increase staff presence at BART and find real, compassionate solutions to address the safety and quality of life issues at our stations.
I’m proud to be a transit leader and would be honored to have your support. Sign up to learn more about what the BART Board does, my background, and to stay in touch.
