Thank you, San Francisco.

The final votes are still coming in, and I now know that 87,000+ San Franciscans cast a vote for me in my unopposed re-election campaign. I’m honored to serve another term on the BART Board and am grateful for the broad support I received from all sides of the political spectrum.

Issues

  • Safety

Janice supports increasing uniformed staff presence, including ambassadors and social workers, at stations and on trains to keep BART welcoming for all riders. She has also been a vocal advocate for BART’s Not One More Girl campaign to address gender-based harassment on public transit.

  • Affordability

Janice is committed to expanding Clipper START, BART’s new low-income fare program, so that more people can receive an even bigger discount if they qualify. Janice also supports using BART land to build more affordable housing so that Bay Area residents can afford to stay here.

  • Better service

Janice knows that the best way to bring riders back is by providing great transit service. She believes that BART needs to add more trains on weekends, weekday evenings, and SFO airport connections, and provide a better rider experience by improving wayfinding and signage at stations.

What is the BART Board?

Map of BART District 8

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Board is made up of nine representatives elected to districts covering San Francisco, Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The BART Board oversees the entire 50-station system through supervising the General Manager, approving contracts, passing policies, and adopting BART’s $2.5 billion annual budget. Janice represents BART District 8, which includes Embarcadero, Montgomery, Glen Park, and Balboa Park stations in San Francisco.

Why I’m running for re-election

BART riders,

Since I was elected in 2018, I’ve had the honor of serving as the BART Board Director for District 8, representing over 400,000 San Francisco residents. I’m excited to run for reelection to continue my service.

The pandemic has shown us more than ever that public transit is an essential service that keeps our region running through even the toughest of times. I’m proud to have led BART through these past three years. I fought for federal assistance for BART, oversaw a balanced budget that restored 100% of pre-pandemic service. I approved and launched BART’s first-ever low-income fare program, reopened bathrooms, supported building housing on BART land, and created an ambassador and social worker program.

I would be honored to have your support in continuing this work.
